Mountain West · Fly into Bozeman
Geysers and bison in Yellowstone, Tetons above Jenny Lake, glaciers in Montana.
The route
Fly into Bozeman and drive south into Yellowstone — the world's first national park and still its most theatrical. Old Faithful every 90 minutes, Grand Prismatic Spring's neon colors, bison traffic jams on the road, and the constant low hum of a geologically active landscape. South into Grand Teton: the Cathedral Group reflected in Jenny Lake at dawn, the Snake River float trip for wildlife spotting, and Dornan's patio for pizza under the peaks. Drive north to Glacier for Going-to-the-Sun Road — 50 miles across the Continental Divide, the greatest road trip in America. Hike to Grinnell Glacier while you still can.
👨👩👧👦 Kids angle
Bison are everywhere in Yellowstone — stay 25 yards away (they move fast). Junior Rangers at all three parks. Jenny Lake boat shuttle is a kid favorite. Going-to-the-Sun Road is a car activity even for young kids — dramatic scenery without requiring hiking ability.
🚗 Rental car
Full-size SUV — you'll be covering 600+ miles across three parks. Bozeman to Glacier is a 3.5h drive alone. Fill up gas whenever you see a station. Cell coverage is minimal in all three parks — download offline maps.
